Update on Dissident Republican Activities
A proposed meeting called by dissident republicans from the CIRA, RIRA, and South Derry breakaway Provos has been cancelled. The meeting was scheduled as a means of opening up debate among republicans who are opposed to the peace process and critical of mainline Sinn Fein's policies. Dissidents are reported to be seeking both political and military ways to counter mainstream republicanism.
According to both the News Letter and the Irish Independent, the renegade republicans called off the brainstorming session after Provos put "pressure" on the meeting hall to keep the dissidents out. The dissident republicans vow to reschedule the meeting, stating that "Censorship did not work for the Brits and it is not going to work for the Provos." A wee bit of Provo political policing?
I'll post the link later, or you can check it out at www.nuzhound.com.
