Nice Things That Look Good

Here are some of the pictures I took while abroad during the Belfast Summer Institute. Enjoy.

This is from a Bed & Breakfast in Youghl, Republic of Ireland (east of Cork in the south). I thought it was interesting, as either an original clock (which I'm slighly inclined to believe as the owner had many antiques from the world over) or a replica from Victoria Station in London. It was surprising to see an object that has such strong connections to the former British Empire and Monarchy (especially, in relation to Queen Victoria!). But, this cements the universal truth that one who presumes an understanding of the conflict in Ireland understands nothing.

This, although out of focus--yes, poor photography--is THE MONEY SHOT. Taken in Glenluce, Scotland during the first weekend in the Belfast area, this can only be what Tolkein must have imagined. (Peter Jackson and I disagree to an extent, but I would see this as Rivendale; for you Tolkein-fanatics.) Just pretend it's a painting.

Another focussed photo of 'Rivendale'/Glenluce, Scotland (just outside Stranraer).
