The Feud is off! Or is it?

The BBC reports that renegade North Belfast UDA man, Alan McClean, has agreed to leave the country after a confrontation with mainline UDA elements last night. Both of the UDA factions, as well as the police, are reported to have drawn but not fired their weapons. McClean is an ally of the Shoukri brothers, and is said to be running the show in their absence. Some members of McClean's entourage have fled NI as well.

This follows nearly a week of threats, beatings, attacks on houses, public demonstrations, and town-hall meetings on the future of the UDA in North Belfast. While it looks like a feud has been averted up to this point, let's see what develops.

Loyalist Feud Averted?
